The Happy Hooker was established back in 2009 but Jamie the owner has been fishing these waters since 1984 and has a lot of different methods and tricks to use. When it comes to bottom fishing we have plenty of marks along the SW coast of Tenerife and in the North of La Gomera, some of these we drift or anchor over rocky drop offs or sandy bottom in waters upto 300ft using a mixture of live and dead baits targeting Amberjack, Dentex, Grouper and other predatory fish of all sizes.
If its big predatory fish you are after then its mainly trolling an assortment of lures depending what we are targeting, for the Marlin we recommend the Bait and Switch method using circle hooks , this way we get the fish to the boat in record time and dont do any damage to the fish , as for tuna there are some times of the year where we dont have to troll for them but other times when trolling is best, check out our tuna fishing charters on the Charters page. We also do some light tackle trolling on light spinning rods with live baits which can be great fun catching barracuda, Altantic Bonito and the hard fighting Bluefish plus a few other species. The Boat & Equipment
The Happy Hooker is a Cata 356, which is a 35ft purpose built sport fishing catamaran with a 13ft beam which gives better stability than normal monohull boats. Its fitted with outriggers, centre rigger, fighting chair and a live well. It has an incredible amount of deck space with a complete safe walk around which gives plenty of room for everyone to fish comfortably, there is a nice big cushioned sunbed at the front and plenty of shade inside the spaciuos cabin.
Powered by twin Yanmar 315hp engines giving a maximum of 26 knots. Equiped with all the latest electronics, fishfinder, GPS Chart plotter, radar, autopilot and all the neccesary saftey equipment including VHF and life jackets to fit all ages.
There is a generator onboard to provide 220v along with a fully functional galley where we can even prepare some of the fish you catch.
As for the fishing equipment, you won´t find another boat here in Tenerife with amount of fishing gear at your disposal, we have a wide range of trolling gear from 5 x 130lbs, 3 x 80lbs, 2 x 70lbs, 8 x 50lbs, 4 x 30lbs and 10 x 20lbs and all top quality, Penn, Shimano, Duel and we only use top quailty Momoi fishing line, plus a huge selection of bottom rods including 8 x 50lbs, 10 x 12lbs, a couple of jigging rods, 8 x 10lbs spinning rods, a popping rod, and a few other rods which all have their uses, plus the equipment for kite fishing for Tuna and Bait and Switch for Marlin. We have over 100 differents lures from Black Bart, Bahama Lures, Legend Lures, Rapala, Yo-Zuri, Williamson plus many more.

Jamie has lived on the island since 1984 when his family moved down here from the UK while he was only 6, His father started a charter fishing business which was passed on but then in 2009 he started his own. He has helped many anglers catch their prize fish. He takes his job serious but also likes to have a laugh and there is always a bit of banter on board.
Foro
Foro is a native Canarian and comes from a family of commercial fishermen, what he doesnt know about fishing isnt worth knowing. He can spot a tuna feed from miles away. He also likes to have a laugh and between the two of them onboard you are sure to enjoy your trip.
